Gravostyle is a free software for computations in astrophysics and problems of gravitational dynamics, with extensive documentation available. The current version is 3.4.0, released on December 19th 2018. The Windows binary may be downloaded here, following the link to Downloads/Older versions or to the direct link http://www.gravostyle-software.org/downloads/+mingw-64+all-versions/+gravostyle_3_4_0+-+Windows+.zip . It also offers support for Linux systems based on RPM packages or Debian package repositories (Ubuntu, Fedora). The package comes with the dependencies needed to run it successfully on each system too. This software is supported by the community. All the required tools are included in the Linux installation. For Windows, you will need to install Python 3, PyQt4.6, OpenAL, libusb-win32 and SDL2 to use Gravostyle's components.
The following tables compare Gravostyle with other free software for computations in astrophysics. Gravostyle is faster at solving gravitational problems compared to GSLAM-II and NBody++ . It does not require special hardware, unlike GAMESS which uses a GPU or Nbody++ which uses a CPU multiprocessor. Gravostyle is also compatible with the Gamess library (GAMESS-3). It offers all the same features as GAMESS, without further calculation of the Jacobian. Therefore it can solve problems for which GAMESS-3 produces extended output, or running it on additional platforms, e.g. Linux distributions based on RPM packages or Debian package repository. Gravostyle can also be used to compute the gravitational waveforms produced by binary pulsars and magnetars.
The installation of Gravostyle is easy using its Installer tool provided in the Downloads section. Multiple instance of Gravostyle are launched by clicking on File | Start multiple instances . The Installation Wizard guides you through the installation process.
The Gravostyle is free software, distributed under the GNU General Public License.
The Gravostyle is cross-platform, available for both MacOS and Windows. It is written entirely in C++ with MacOS port done by Nikolaj Weise. The Windows version was created by Vincent Malet, with assistance from many volunteers. The source code of Gravostyle along with pre-compiled binaries are available on GitHub.
Gravostyle has been downloaded more than 5500 times since release on December 19th 2018 , with an average of over 10 downloads per day since release .
Gravostyle has been awarded the "Best of Free Software" award by SourceForge . It has also been awarded the "Software of the Month" award by SourceForge .
There are many books about Gravostyle published for free, including original works of open source code development, or published code which has been released under its own Free License. Some of these titles are currently being translated into English, to be able to use them with Gravostyle functions. These are some of them:
